Travel insurance (outbound)

Travel insurance covers citizens while they are outside the Kyrgyz Republic. The policy covers expenses arising from an insured event abroad, within the limits of the chosen programme and sum insured. The insured person’s details are entered in Latin characters, as in the passport.

Cover programmes

One of three programmes is selected: BRONZE, SILVER or GOLD. The programme determines the scope of cover and the price.

Territory of cover

• Asia, the CIS, Africa, Oceania and Australia;
• the Schengen area and European countries;
• North and South America.

After the territory is chosen, the specific countries of travel are selected and entered in the policy.

Sum insured

The cover limit is selected when the policy is issued: 15,000 USD or 30,000 USD. The premium is calculated at a rate that depends on the length of the trip and converted into som at the National Bank rate. A sales tax of 2% is applied.

Loading coefficients

By the nature of the trip — one option is selected:

• standard, ordinary holiday — 1.0;
• active holiday (A+) — 1.25;
• extreme tourism (E+) — 1.75;
• sport and sporting competitions (S+) — 2.00.

An age coefficient is applied automatically:

• from 1 month to 4 years — 2.00;
• from 5 to 64 years — not applied;
• 65 years and over — 2.50.

Where several insured persons are included, the calculation is made separately for each of them.

Deductible

The contract may include a deductible: none, a fixed amount, a percentage of the sum insured, or one applied to total loss or to a particular risk.

How to arrange it

1. Enter the travel dates — they determine the rate period.
2. Enter the insured persons’ details in Latin characters as in the passport; each person as a separate entry.
3. Choose the programme (BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD), the territory and the countries of travel.
4. Select the sum insured — 15,000 or 30,000 USD — and the nature of the trip.
5. Complete electronic identification, sign with an electronic digital signature and pay for the policy.

Prices start from 350 som. The policy is issued in a few minutes and can also be obtained at the head office or any SIO branch.

Documents required

The passport of each insured person; the dates of departure and return; the list of countries to be visited.

If an insured event occurs abroad

1. Before going to a clinic, contact the assistance service stated in the policy — it arranges treatment and payment.
2. Keep all medical documents, invoices and receipts.
3. Notify SIO — on the call centre numbers 0 553 54 54 00 and 0 707 54 54 00 or through the claim form on the website.
4. After returning, submit a claim with the documents confirming the expenses.

Legal basis

Travel insurance is provided in accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Insurance and Insurance Activities" No. 89 of 29 April 2025 and SIO’s insurance rules.
