Compulsory insurance of an employer’s civil liability for harm to the life and health of an employee in the course of their work duties.
Who must hold it
The policy is taken out by the employer — a legal entity or sole trader with employees. The obligation is established by the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Compulsory Insurance of the Employer’s Civil Liability for Harm to the Life and Health of an Employee in the Performance of Work (Official) Duties" No. 194 of 5 August 2008.
What is covered
The policy covers the employer’s liability to an employee for harm to life and health in the performance of work duties: occupational injuries, occupational diseases and fatal accidents.
How the price is calculated
Unlike motor insurance, the calculation is built around the workforce and working conditions rather than a vehicle or a property. The following are taken into account:
- the organisation’s type of economic activity — the key rating factor;
- the average headcount by category: production, administrative and support staff;
- the annual payroll fund for each category;
- the employees’ working conditions.
A sales tax of 2% is applied to the calculated premium.
How to arrange it
- Enter the insurance period and the employer’s details: company details or sole trader data, and the address.
- Select the type of economic activity from the classifier.
- Complete the workforce data: headcount and annual payroll fund by category, and working conditions.
- Complete electronic identification and sign the documents with an electronic digital signature.
- Pay the premium and receive the policy in electronic form.
The policy can also be arranged at the head office and at any SIO branch. Payment is accepted online, by QR code, bank transfer, mobile banking apps, at a terminal or at the cash desk.
Documents required
The employer’s registration documents; details of the type of economic activity; the average headcount by category and the annual payroll fund; information on working conditions.
If an insured event occurs
- Give the injured employee first aid and call an ambulance.
- Investigate the industrial accident in the manner required by labour law and draw up the report.
- Notify SIO — on the call centre numbers 0 553 54 54 00 and 0 707 54 54 00 or through the claim form on the website.
- Submit a claim with the accident report and the medical documents.
Other compulsory liability classes
If the business involves passenger transport, hazardous production facilities or the carriage of dangerous goods, carrier’s liability, hazardous facilities liability and dangerous goods carrier liability apply. For risks outside the compulsory classes there is voluntary general liability.
