SIO carries out insurance and reinsurance activity under licences issued by the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. All licences are open-ended, valid throughout the Kyrgyz Republic, and shown as active in the regulator's registers.

What the licences cover
Compulsory classes (licence No. 09):
- compulsory insurance of residential premises against fire and natural disasters;
- compulsory employer's liability insurance for harm to the life and health of an employee in the course of their duties;
- compulsory liability insurance of operators of hazardous production facilities;
- compulsory carrier's liability insurance towards passengers;
- compulsory liability insurance of carriers of dangerous goods.
Voluntary property insurance (licence No. 10):
- voluntary insurance of property against fire and other perils;
- voluntary insurance of pledged and leased property;
- voluntary insurance of land vehicles, civil liability and seats in a vehicle against accidents.
Voluntary personal insurance (licence No. 26):
- voluntary accident and sickness insurance — voluntary medical insurance;
- voluntary insurance of medical and other unforeseen expenses of persons travelling away from their place of permanent residence.
Voluntary liability insurance (licence No. 65) was supplemented by order of the regulator No. 563-p of 24.10.2024 with the service "voluntary insurance of a resident's civil liability under an export contract".
National reinsurance operator
Pursuant to Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic "On measures for the development of the insurance market" No. 79 of 20 March 2024, Order of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 459-r of 30 July 2024 designated SIO as the national operator of the Kyrgyz Republic for reinsurance, including export credits, export-oriented production and investment of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, in cooperation with the Eurasian Reinsurance Company.
