International cooperation is one of the strategic directions in the development of the State Insurance Organization (SIO). Engagement with foreign insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as with specialised international associations, enables SIO to enhance the reliability of insurance protection, introduce modern products and strengthen the position of the national insurance market of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Reinsurance and risk diversification
Reinsurance is a key tool for ensuring the financial stability of an insurance company. Placing part of the assumed risks with reliable foreign reinsurers allows SIO to underwrite large and complex objects and guarantees the timely fulfilment of obligations to clients even in the event of significant insured losses. Diversifying risks across different markets and partners reduces dependence on individual factors and increases the reliability of insurance coverage.
Development of export credit insurance
Export credit insurance is aimed at supporting domestic producers and exporters entering foreign markets. It protects participants in foreign economic activity against commercial and political risks — non-payment by foreign counterparties, changes in trade conditions and other circumstances. The development of this area contributes to the growth of non-commodity exports and strengthens Kyrgyzstan’s economic ties with foreign partners.
Development of Islamic insurance (Takaful)
Takaful is a system of mutual insurance based on the principles of shared responsibility and compliance with Sharia. Introducing Takaful products expands SIO’s range of services and makes insurance protection accessible to clients guided by ethical and religious principles. The development of Islamic insurance meets growing demand and helps expand the country’s insurance market.
Exchange of experience and professional development
SIO attaches great importance to exchanging professional experience with foreign colleagues. Participation in international conferences, training programmes and industry events makes it possible to adopt best practices in risk management, actuarial calculations and customer service. Continuous development of employees’ competencies ensures high quality of services and compliance with international standards.
Cooperation in travel insurance (for travellers going abroad)
Under travel insurance contracts, SIO cooperates with the international assistance company Savitar Group Ltd. (Nicosia, Cyprus), which provides support to insured persons outside the Kyrgyz Republic. The assistance company arranges medical and other emergency aid and coordinates interaction with medical institutions and service providers in the country of stay.
