For a state insurance company, social responsibility is not occasional charity but daily work: protecting homes and public buildings, paying quickly when disaster strikes, and explaining to people how insurance works. Below are concrete results rather than declarations.
Compromise payments fund
On 12 August 2025 an extraordinary general meeting of SIO shareholders unanimously resolved to allocate KGS 15 million of the company's net funds to a compromise payments fund. The money is intended for insured persons affected by emergencies whose circumstances are not covered by existing policy terms — a voluntary commitment beyond what the contract requires.
Support for victims of natural disasters
In the spring and summer of 2026, after mudflows, SIO paid KGS 3,517,965 to 19 families in Osh region (the villages of Sasyk-Unkur and Gulcho), Jalal-Abad region (the city of Manas, Suzak and Aksy districts) and Batken region (Batken and Leylek districts). For houses with critical structural damage, compensation ranged from KGS 500,000 to KGS 1 million.
Over 11 months of 2025 the company handled 236 claims under compulsory housing insurance against fire and natural disasters and paid KGS 30.5 million, including KGS 27.5 million for 145 homes damaged by fire — almost twice the figure of the previous year. Since the beginning of 2026 total claims paid have exceeded KGS 460 million (as at 14 August 2026).
Protecting public buildings
In the summer of 2026 hurricane-force winds twice damaged the roof of the Zhusup Abdrakhmanov secondary school in the village of Novo-Pokrovka — on 10 and 27 June. SIO accepted the documents for each incident separately and compensated the damage in full: KGS 2,211,220. Insurance of social infrastructure allows schools, kindergartens and hospitals to recover after a disaster without waiting for budget funding.
Cover for public and international events
In July 2026, during the Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SIO acted as the insurance partner of the SCO media and think-tank forum: around 180 foreign delegates were covered for KGS 91 million, out of some 250 participants representing state bodies, media, think tanks and international organisations.
Education and insurance literacy
On 15 May 2025 SIO and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a memorandum of cooperation, signed by Eldiyar Kaldarbekov, Chairman of the Management Board of SIO, and Nurlan Nartaev, Vice-President of the Chamber. The agreed areas are joint promotion of insurance services, educational and advisory programmes for entrepreneurs, information support and exchange of experience.
The company regularly explains at press conferences and in the media how housing claims are calculated after an emergency, what documents are needed and within what deadlines a claim must be reported, and is working on lowering the threshold for claims payments in the event of earthquakes.
